Forged in the cauldron of Amsterdam’s session culture!

Yes! The moment is here! After so much time developing The Lady & the Bad Boy we are now boldly putting the Blue Rose saxophones through the only test that really matters!

For several weeks now, almost every night, we are taking both horns onto the open stages of Amsterdam. Inviting friends and other interested saxophone players to play-test our saxophones in one of the most diverse musical environments in the world and help us perfect every detail.

Blue Rose Saxophones - Benjamin Herman - Blue Rose Lady

Amsterdam’s session circuit is a sprawling culture of café’s bar’s and small podia that host weekly music events and jams all over the city. Here musicians can sit in with the bands, earn their spores and build their names the old fashioned way.  Many national and international artists sprang from this hot cauldron of music. And this is also the world from which the Amsterdam Blue Rose saxophone has sprung. An instrument that can thrive in this world, can thrive almost anywhere. And so we plunge our saxophones deep into the nights and let them soak up everything they encounter. Forging a beauty.

Amsterdam Blue Rose Saxophone - Iman Spaargaren

In our view, This is the only way to develop a strong instrument that will: perform well in a large variety of music, will stand the test of quality and will truly be in-tune with what our players really need from our instruments.  So many modern instruments are dreamed up in isolated sound studios, developed through cold mathematical principles, or just blindly copied from older models that were successful once.  The result is, in our view, cold instruments without love or soul. Out of touch with what an instrument really can be!

At Blue Rose Saxophones we walk another path. At every step we seek to infuse our instruments with passion and inspiration. We know and feel that a saxophone is far more than the sum of its parts. It’s a culture! The combined stories, wishes and experiences of all the players that came before you and helped create this very very special instrument. In this regard, a Blue Rose player is in good company!

And we heartily invite you to join us in the fun of this creative process. So if you: live in, near, or are visiting Amsterdam in the near future. Make sure to come by and play-test one of our instruments. We’d love to hear your feedback!

You can find out where the Blue Rose is being played each night through our Facebook page.

Hope to play with you soon!

Love,

The Lady & The Bad Boy
